Access Statement for Grove Farm B&B
This access statement does not contain personal opinions as to our suitability for those with access needs, but aims to accurately describe the facilities and services that we offer all our guests/visitors.
Introduction
Grove Farm is part of our organic dairy farm and the house is situated in a very secluded position 3/4 mile up a farm track from the main road with panoramic views over the River Severn to the Cotswolds beyond.We offer two guest rooms, one double/twin with private bath,the other duoble with en-suite shower.The house,like many english farmhouses,is a mixture of ages. The oldest part is 17th centuary,the youngest 15years old.Some period features in the old part may make access difficult for people with limited mobility.We are located 3 miles from the village of Newnham with the Wye Valley,Cotswolds and East Wales all nearby.We are on the edge of The Forest of Dean with walking access from the farmhouse .

Pre-Arrival

We are located off the A48,three miles south of Newnham-on-Severn our post code is GL14 1EA, Our nearest train station is Lydney and there is a bus stop on the main road at the end of our lane .The nearest shops are in Newnham. We accept pets,horses,dogs and small pets by arrangement There are two dogs(bitches) in residence
Car Parking and Arrival

Parking is by the house.Access to the front door is up a gravel slope,or if prefered up 8 steps to the garden door. The area is lit with a motion sensor light,A small step takes you into the hall via a wide front door.
Welcome Area

Guests are welcomed into the hall,which is level throughout.Seating is available with two upright chairs. The area is well lit with lamps and ceiling lights. Assistance can be given with luggage to the bedrooms.
Bedrooms

Our guestbedrooms are situated on the first floor by means of 12 stairs (200mm/8ins). There are bannisters on one side. Our beds are usually made up with duvets, but blankets are available on request. Our pillows are feather and down but allergy ones are available. There is seating ,bedside tables with lamps,chest of drawers/dressing table, clothes hanging facilities and radio in each bedroom.Bedroom one has two beds (510mm/20ins) which can be made up into a double bed, Access from both sides .There is a basin in the bedroom,The private bathroom is adjacent, Bedroom 2 has a double bed (580mm/23ins high) with access from both sides. There is an en-suite shower room.

The bathroom adjoining bedroom one has level access,There is a bath with hand held shower attachment, and a non-slip mat is available.The toilet is 395mm(15,5ins)high, There is a heated towel rail and the bathroom is well lit.

The en-suite shower has level access from the bedroom.The toilet is 395mm(15.5ins) high. The shower cubicle is accessed by folding doors and there is a hand rail on the side,The shower room is well lit and there is a shaver power point,
Public Areas - Halls, Stairs, Landings, Corridors

All the public areas are well lit with wall lights,ceiling lights and table lamps. The hall has local stone floor and the stairs and landing are carpeted with natural flooring,There are no steps into the drawing room from the hall.The house is fully centrally heated but can be adjusted in individual rooms to suit requirements,There are ceiling fire alarms in the bedrooms and on the landings,
Public Areas - Lounge

The drawing room/breakfast room is situated off the hall with level entry. It is fully carpeted throughout with natural flooring, with a rug in front of the fireplace.Lighting is by wall lights,table lamps and one specialist reading light,There is a door leading out to the terrace with one step inside the room and two outside. A woodburning stove is availabl for the use of guests, Seating for 4/6 people at an antique oak table, A television is available for the use of guests, There is soft seating for six people, a sofa and three armchairs 395mm(15.5ins)high.
Garden

The garden can be accessed from the car parking area by a flight of 8 steps, or from the drawingroom via three steps.There is a seating area with a table and chairs and the garden is a mixture of gravel and lawns,There are panoramic views over the River Severn to the Cotswolds and we are surrounded by our own fields and woods.

There are 'In case of fire' instructions in each bedroom and we have planned evacuation procedures- should you require it someone will come to your room and help you with evacuation.The is a guest information folded in each bedroom,further information in the drawingroom,also books of local interest,We have storage facilities /drying facilities for ,walkers/riders/cyclists/golfers etc.. We are happy to cater for specialist diets if we are made aware of requirements prior to arrival and we cah store food/babyfood in our fridge Mobile phone reception is good at the Grove, We do not take credit cards so payment is by cash or cheque,
